Time: Sunday, 12 April 2026 at 10:30Details: This service usually takes place on the second Sunday of the month and is a more informal celebration of Holy Communion, giving us a chance to try new things.  This communion service uses modern language liturgy from Common Worship and includes hymns and an anthem from the choir along with a sermon. Time: Wednesday, 15 April 2026 at 11:00Details: 1647 Sculpture - Consultations / / /   / / / / / / / / / Ian Wolter with a model of his sculpture / / / / / / / The placement of a sculpture in St Mary's Churchyard - we'd like to hear your views.  / / / The Saffron Walden discussions in St Mary’s church in May 1647 “mark the first stage of the debates on democracy” and although they have been overshadowed by the much more radical demands of the subsequent ‘Putney Debates’ in London that autumn “the process of radicalisation and democratisation began back in May in Saffron Walden” and these events “need to be better commemorated and understood”. John Morrill, Emeritus Professor of British and Irish History at Cambridge University. / / We are proposing to place a stunning new sculpture within St Mary’s churchyard to commemorate events that happened here in the year 1647. It will have both artistic and historic merit, and you are warmly invited to one of the consultation sessions with members of the Project Team in the church on: / / / Wed 15th April, 11am / Thu 16th April, 7:30pm / Tue 21st April, 7.30pm  / / / Please come along to find out more about the project, ask questions and let us hear your views.  We will then ask for your feedback on our {feedback form} to help us gauge the level of support for the proposals.

Time: Sunday, 26 April 2026 at 18:30Details: A Taizé service involves sung and chanted prayers, meditation, a period of silence, and liturgical readings. This takes places on Sunday afternoons/evenings several times a year in the North Chapel and lasts about 45 minutes. Download a past service sheet to give you a better idea about this service. Find out more about the Taizé Community here. / / Taizé is a small village in eastern France. For 60 years, it has been the home of a Christian monastic community made up of people from many different countries, speaking many different languages and, uniquely, belonging to several different Christian denominations. / / Catholics, Anglicans, Protestants, Orthodox and others live and pray together, share a simple life and welcome the tens of thousands of visitors who come to spend time with them every year from all over the world. / The community has developed a unique style of meditative singing which focuses on the repetitive chanting of short phrases from the Bible and other Christian texts in a range of languages. We are using some of those songs this evening. /  Location: North Chapel - St Mary's Church
