Munk Mahjong Club

Munk Mahjong Club is a casual space to play, learn, and hang out over a game of tiles. Sessions are entirely non-competitive and open to all levels. Complete beginners will be taught from scratch, while experienced players can just jump straight into a game. The club typically plays 16-tile Taiwanese Mahjong, but anyone used to 13-tile Mainland or Hong Kong variants is completely welcome to play their style or mix it up. Tables and sets are provided, though players are welcome to bring their own. Drop in, pull up a chair, and play at your own pace. SET Open Decks – Weekly DJ Open Booth Nights

SET Open Decks is a weekly night at SET Social where the booth is open for everyone. The format is simple. If you want to play, just turn up and put your name in the hat. Slots are 30 minutes long and drawn at random throughout the night. There is no setlist, no booking, and no pressure to perform. It’s a casual space to jump on club-standard equipment, play back-to-back, or test new material. The night is as much about listening as it is about playing. Whether you’re behind the decks, learning by watching, or just there for the music and the atmosphere, everyone is welcome. We also host occasional informal workshops covering technical skills, library organisation, and industry tips. Keep an eye on @set.social.peckham for announcements. SET Stage Gallery – Off The Record

Off the Record is an upcoming immersive installation at SET Stage Gallery, unveiling the vital contributions of the unsung heroes of London’s underground rap scene. Behind every viral video, sold-out event, and career-defining moment, there is a dedicated photographer who captured the scene, a journalist who narrated the story, and an event producer who orchestrated the show. For one weekend only, the London artists working “off the record” take centre stage to celebrate their efforts in documenting and building the underground rap scene. Curated by the multi-talented Mobolaji Babalola (@toomanyfishb), this gathering brings together photographers, videographers, A&Rs, event producers, set designers, lighting designers, journalists, and visual artists. Mobolaji is a set designer (@bfixedit_) and event producer. Having built sets for prominent rappers like Ceebo and Saiming, whilst also working as an art director and event producer for @prettytwistedlive, she has fast become a major force behind the scenes. Earlier this year, she held her debut solo exhibition, showcasing her work within the underground rap scene and the wider creative landscape. Now, she is turning the spotlight back onto her own community.

Angry Letters to God: A Therapeutic Writing Workshop

Where do our most difficult emotions go? Angry Letters to God is a therapeutic writing workshop where attendees are encouraged to express their “ugliest” feelings in their rawest form. The session was conceived of as a direct antidote to the current climate of repression, confinement, and powerlessness we experience in society today. It provides a safe, non-judgmental space to put pen to paper and release the frustrations we are so often forced to contain. This session is completely free and open to everyone. No previous writing experience or advance booking is required. 'Italy from Seed to Plate': A Talk with Paolo Arrigo

How much of a country’s history is preserved not in its monuments, but in its soil? This afternoon session explores the distinct microclimates, dialects, and culinary traditions that define Italy’s 20 regions. Led by leading gardening expert and renowned seedsman, Paolo Arrigo, the 45-minute talk takes the audience “around Italy in 20 vegetables,” focusing on local, ethical, and endangered heirloom varieties celebrated for their exceptional provenance and forgotten flavours. Alongside this regional journey, Paolo will share practical advice on exactly what to sow right now to secure a successful autumn and winter harvest. The session concludes with a Q&A. Paolo is a nine-time Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) medal winner, the Slow Food (UK) ‘Person of the Year 2019′, and the founder of Seeds of Italy. His company imports Franchi Seeds, the oldest family-run seed brand on the planet. Remaining in the same family for seven generations, Franchi was established in 1783 – the same year Mozart composed his first mass, the Montgolfier brothers launched their hot air balloon over Paris, and the HMS Bounty was still sitting in the dockyards. Paratha Club is a cozy gathering centred around fresh homemade parathas, independent cinema, warm chai, and sweet treats. Picture this: you roll into Peckham in the early evening, the air warm with sweet incense and the soft glow of diyas flickering along the bar. You’re offered fresh, homemade parathas, served with butter, yogurt, and a selection of Indian pickles. While tucking in, you catch up with friends and settle in as the food fills you with comfort. Once plates are cleared, a steaming cup of masala chai and a sweet treat follow as everyone gathers to watch a film—the perfect end to a soul-nourishing meal. This week’s menu Paratha stuffing: MooliAll food served is 100% plant-based. While he navigates family expectations and pressure to marry, he reconnects with Balya, a childhood friend, and the two slowly rediscover a tender, deeply felt connection. The film delicately explores grief, love, and the quiet courage it takes to live authentically within a deeply traditional and small community. It’s beautifully acted, gracefully directed, and a landmark for Marathi cinema.

A quiet and social space for making things with paper. Zine and collage night at SET Social is open to anyone who wants to cut, paste, draw, write or simply spend some quiet time working alongside others. Green Lions Community Archive Launch

SET Social’s library corner begins its next chapter! Following a successful residency by Oisín Roberts and his community library, the space now hosts a year-long project with the Green Lions Community Archive. We invite you to join us on Thursday 30 July to celebrate the official opening of their new home. The Green Lions Community Archive is a space dedicated to preserving the history and cultural production of grassroots organising and social movements. With a focus on decolonial climate justice and solidarity, within and beyond London, the collection aims to represent East and South East Asian (ESEA) communities, their diasporic homelands, and allied groups fighting against imperialism and climate colonialism. This launch event is a open invitation to explore this new physical space as well as the connections between climate justice, decolonisation, racial justice and anti-militarism. It’s a night to convene, explore the stacks, and help shape a resource built by the community, for the community. What to expect on the night: Participate in community archiving and mapping interventions. Chat with the collective about ideas for the space and how to get involved. Some light snacks will be provided, and the SET Social bar will be open for drinks all evening. Want to contribute to the archive? Built on an ethics of open access and collaborative activation, this archive is grown by you.

Soft Ground: Textiles and Self-Soothing Workshop Series

After a short pause, we’re pleased to announce that Soft Ground will be recommencing on 31 July until 11 September 2026. Soft Ground is a programme of free weekly drop-in textile-based art sessions designed to support mental wellbeing through creativity, routine, and communal making. Drawing from neurodivergent practices and trauma-informed methodologies, these sessions are open to everyone, with a particularly warm welcome extended to neurodivergent participants. The programme offers a gentle, sensory-aware, and low-pressure environment where you can engage with textile processes at your own pace, using tactile making as a tool for self-soothing, co-regulation, and creative exploration. For this next chapter, we’re joined by textile artists Sue Mayo and Jenny McIlhatton, who will each lead a series of mindful, relaxing workshops using recycled materials and fashion waste. Sessions follow a consistent weekly format designed to create structure and accessibility, particularly for those who experience anxiety, sensory overload, or social isolation. While the programme centres neurodivergent experiences, it is open to anyone in the local community interested in creativity as a pathway to wellbeing. The programme will be taking place every Friday from 2-4pm at SET Social. Please note that there will be no session on 21st August. All sessions are free to attend and conclude with refreshments, creating a relaxed space for conversation and connection.

Feminist Reading Group

The Feminist Reading Group meets monthly to read and discuss feminist texts.Open to all, the group ensures that all selected readings are easily and freely accessible to everyone. The environment is designed to be friendly, welcoming, and encouraging, with a focus on feminist theory—broadly exploring gender, sexuality, and the structures of oppression. Rather than following a rigid curriculum, the reading list is shaped entirely by the interests of the attendees. Each session focuses on a bite-sized chunk of a longer book or a standalone short text, with the group collectively picking the next read at the end of every meeting.
