In the first half, professional improvisers from the award-winning Totally Improvised Company and student guests will get the night going with gags and games inspired by your suggestions. In the second half, the stage is yours for an open mic with stand-up, songs, sketches or whatever funny business you want to try! Previous line-ups have included award-winning student stand-ups developing material and launching their careers. Don’t miss your opportunity to catch the top talents of tomorrow… today! JORVIK is an interactive, immersive play – inspired by the Viking sagas and the great tradition of communal storytelling. Expect celebration, song, combat, larger than life characters and plenty of toasting! Fun, fierce and with a lot of heart. This is a piece of new writing that explores the modern day through the Viking lens. We aren’t as different from our ancestors as we think. Our desires – while modern at a glance – are deeply rooted in the same human condition: the obsession with glory, fate, and the need to be remembered. JORVIK explores the idea of legacy, loss, glory and family. It serves as a reminder that we need to enjoy life whilst we are still around to do so, and to cherish those we hold dear. Powerful, raw, intense, and wonderfully choreographed to bring the audience into a world of theatre. Action Hero are definitely not making a scene. Lost inside a recurring nightmare, a reluctant actor returns to the stage. In an attempt to conquer an 8-year period of intense stage fright – and inside a dream-world inhabited by the phantoms of his disapproving ancestors – he is replaying his own autobiography and starting to lose the plot. But he’s not gonna make a big song and dance about it. Instead, he’s determined to keep the show on the road, re-writing his anxiety dreams live on stage in the hope of banishing the ghosts of performances past. A Song & Dance is an absurdist nightmare of a performance about masking, performing and ‘acting the part.’ Action Hero create artworks that explore what is it to be human now. From stage to page to audio to immersive interaction, Action Hero create structures for people to experience alternative ways of being together. Previous projects have toured to more than 40 countries across 6 continents, to both critical and popular acclaim. They have been shortlisted for the Live Art Prize, a Total Theatre award, and won an Off West End award for Best Performance, and a Critics Table award for Best Touring Show. They were recently longlisted for the 2025 Artangel Open.

Claire has been told to ‘go back home’ countless times, but where is home for them? An African island they’ve only visited once? Their parents’ unrecognisable house, falling apart in an increasingly gentrified borough? Between memories of their childhood home, shaded by parental mental health difficulties; and memories of Liverpool, laced with dead friends and racial abuse, Claire doesn’t know if they’ll ever feel truly rooted. This darkly comic solo show explores and celebrates intersectional identities, marginalised communities, and the unconventional ways that we find home.
