Sunday Creative Writing Course: Five Weeks of Spring

This course is perfect for writers of any stage who want to explore their voice, try new ideas, finish a writing project or connect with fellow creatives in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Permacomputing club

How can we rethink our relationship to harmful technologies? Join the Permacomputing Club every Monday at SET Social for a weekly meet-up exploring this question and more sustainable ways to use and think about digital tools. Inspired by permaculture, permacomputing is an anti-capitalist project that challenges the environmental and social damage caused by modern technology. Drawing on ideas from degrowth, ecologism, decolonial thinking and intersectional feminism, it looks for alternatives to the energy-intensive systems shaping today’s tech landscape. Each session emphasises collaborative discussion over solo tinkering. Participants are invited to share a problem they’ve read or experienced, where they’ll receive feedback and work together to find solutions. In a culture dominated by harmful tech practices, including AI, the Permacomputing Club aims to build a more thoughtful space to explore new and different possibilities. All are welcome, though women and non-binary participants are particularly encouraged to join. Please bring your own tech and have a look at our guiding principles before attending: permacomputing.net/Principles. Event details Date: Every MondayTime: 6.30-7.30pmTickets: Free entry. SET Open Decks - Weekly DJ Open Booth Nights (extended)

SET Open Decks is a weekly night happening at SET Social where the booth is open for anyone who wants to play, experiment with tracks, or just hang out with other local DJs. Every third Wednesday of the month, SET Open Decks expands into an extended session, running from early evening through to midnight. The booth stays open throughout, giving more time to play, listen, experiment, and settle into the space. The extended session keeps the same open, easy-going approach as the weekly night. DJs who want to play can put their name in a hat, with 30-minute slots drawn at random on the night. There’s no fixed format and no expectation to perform. You can step up to the decks, dip in and out, or stay off the booth entirely and enjoy the music. Whether you’re a DJ testing new material, someone learning by watching others, or just there to enjoy the music and the atmosphere, everyone is welcome. From time to time, SET Open Decks will also host informal workshops and skill-sharing sessions covering DJ techniques, library organisation, and industry tips. Keep an eye on @set.social.peckham for announcements. Soft Ground: Textiles and Self-Soothing Workshop Series

Soft Ground: Textiles and Self-Soothing Workshop Series

Soft Ground is a four-month programme of free weekly drop-in textile-based art sessions, designed to support mental wellbeing through creativity, routine, and communal making. Drawing from neurodivergent practices and trauma-informed methodologies, the sessions are open to all, with a particular welcome extended to neurodivergent participants. The programme offers a gentle, sensory-aware environment where participants can engage with textile processes at their own pace, using tactile making as a tool for self-soothing, co-regulation, and creative exploration. Each two-hour session is led by a rotating group of women artists recognised for their inclusive practices and lived experience of neurodivergence: Kim Chin, Birungi Kawooya, Sue Mayo, and Jenny McIlhatton. Participants are invited to drop in, try different approaches to textile making, and take part in a supportive communal space focused on reducing isolation, building trust, and nurturing emotional wellbeing. Sessions follow a consistent weekly format designed to create structure and accessibility, particularly for those who experience anxiety, sensory overload, or social isolation. While the programme centres neurodivergent experiences, it is open to anyone in the local community interested in creativity as a pathway to wellbeing. All sessions take place at SET Social, our arts and social club in Peckham.
