'Painterly Wildflower' - 3½ Hour Painting Workshop

Expressive brush-led grasses and seedheads, enriched with textured sponging and sculpted impasto flowers This workshop focuses on creating a soft, painterly wildflower landscape using acrylics on board. You’ll begin by building a gentle, atmospheric background with sponged layers of textured acrylics, before developing flowing grasses, stems and seed heads using expressive brushwork to create movement, rhythm and structure across the painting. In just 3½ hours, you’ll learn the techniques and materials I use in my own work to create a richly textured floral painting of your own. Working with acrylics on board, you’ll be guided step by step to produce a unique little masterpiece — a piece of art to take home and be proud of. Your painting will be created on 3mm MDF board; a beautifully responsive and durable surface that works perfectly with layered acrylic techniques and is ideal for framing, which many participants choose to do after the session. Run from the comfort of my Studio in Ditchling, in a supportive and nurturing environment with an intimate group of up to six people, allowing one to one tuition. This workshop is suitable for all artistic abilities, even if you’re a complete novice, the methods we’ll be using are easy to learn and apply. The cost is £60 per person, including quality artists’ paints, boards, and a range of inspiring materials to experiment with. Full Day Landscape Painting Workshop – August ‘Golden Lake Reflections’ 10-5pm Join me for a full day of immersive landscape painting as we capture the beauty of a glowing sunset reflected across still water. Inspired by the warmth and atmosphere of the summer countryside, this workshop explores the techniques I use in my own landscape paintings to create depth, light and a strong sense of place. Working on a 42cm x 36cm board, you’ll learn how to build a larger, more developed landscape using layered acrylic techniques, expressive mark-making and carefully balanced colour. Throughout the day, I’ll guide you through the process of creating a landscape filled with glowing reflections, distant trees, expansive skies and luminous evening light. We’ll explore how to create depth, atmosphere and natural texture while developing a painting that feels both dramatic and tranquil. The larger board size and full-day format allow us to work on a more ambitious composition than is possible in the afternoon workshops, giving you the opportunity to explore additional detail, richer layers and a greater sense of scale whilst still completing a finished painting by the end of the session. September Seasonal Landscape Painting Course – Light Through the Trees Join me for this immersive 10-hour landscape painting course and learn how to create an atmospheric countryside scene filled with light, depth and mood. Working from a beautiful late-summer landscape, we’ll explore how sunlight filters through trees, illuminates grasses and creates a sense of space across the landscape. Inspired by the changing seasons and the warm, golden light of early autumn, this composition offers the perfect opportunity to develop a more expressive and confident approach to landscape painting. Working in acrylics on 45cm × 38cm MDF board, you’ll be guided step by step through the process I use in my own paintings to build atmosphere, depth and light. Held over four consecutive weeks, this course allows time to work thoughtfully, building layers and refining your composition to create a beautifully light-filled spring landscape. By the end of the course, you’ll have a substantial landscape painting and a deeper understanding of how to create light-filled, atmospheric countryside scenes. As with my own work, you may choose to continue refining and developing your painting at home using the techniques and knowledge gained during the course. This course is suitable for both developing painters and those looking to build confidence in landscape painting.

Fused Glass Poppies and Garden Flowers

Join expert glass artist, Jazz Dixon for a craft class with a difference. Learn to create your own beautiful glass poppies, suitable for indoor or outdoor display. Plan of the Day: You will be welcomed with refreshments before Jazz gives a short introduction to glass fusing and the wide range of techniques used. You will be introduced to the projects and have time to think about your own creative ideas. You will have a choice of colours, from traditional red, or a small selection of other colours. You will be introduced to glass cutting, and with expert guidance, you will cut and shape your glass to create the petals for your flowers. Following a break for lunch (please bring a packed lunch with you), you will construct your two poppies, with the opportunity to use accessory glass to add details to your flowers. Once you have finished your 2 flowers, you will have the opportunity to use the off cuts of glass to create smaller floral hanger. All the tools and safety equipment will be supplied alongside expert tuition. Your pieces will be taken away and fired. They will be available for collection from West Sussex or East Sussex, or can be posted to you (at your own risk) once completed.
