What's on in Woodcote

Surrey, England

Book clubs, bingo, and the occasional village fête that's surprisingly well organised — Woodcote punches well above its weight for local events, and Surrey's all the better for it. You'll find everything from craft workshops the kids won't stop asking about to open mic nights that are genuinely worth staying up past nine for. The big listings sites have never heard of half these venues, which is their loss and your gain. Parish council listings, community centre noticeboards, pub websites we've had to zoom in on to read properly — we've checked them all so you don't have to.

Forest Bathing

Spending time in nature has been shown to have a positive effect on health and wellbeing and can boost your mood, mental health and life satisfaction. ‘Forest bathing’ is a form of nature therapy that enables you to take in the forest through your senses, in a way that invites you into the present moment. Medical studies show that taking regular Forest Bathing sessions can boost your immune function, regulate stress hormones, increase energy levels and lower the severity of anxiety, depression, fatigue and anger (Qing Li (2018) Shinrin Yoku: The Art and Science of Forest Bathing).Join us in the beautiful beech woodland at Path Hill for a two-hour Forest Bathing experience. Immerse yourself in the forest whilst taking a gentle, meaningful walk, allowing you to open up your senses, slow down and stay in the moment. It is not a hike or nature expedition, and it is not swimming! The focus is on forming connections and relationships as you develop an appreciation for the healing power of nature. You will be guided by our Path Hill instructors, Nicky and Selina, who will lead you through a series of activities to help you connect with nature and literally ‘come to your senses’. Leave your phone behind and respond to invitations from nature as they appear. The session will end with a tea ceremony, using locally sourced fresh herbs, and time for reflection either alone or with the other participants.
