What's on in Pencelli (Penkelli)

Powys, Wales

The proper local stuff the big sites overlook — from open mic nights to dog shows, toddler groups to talks about local history that turn out to be more interesting than you'd think. Pencelli (Penkelli) keeps its calendar surprisingly full, and we've tracked down the lot. Coffee mornings that turn into proper catch-ups. Quiz nights where the same team wins every week and everyone pretends not to mind. Craft fairs, food markets, community screenings, and workshops teaching you things you didn't know you wanted to learn. All the things that make living somewhere feel like actually living somewhere, not just sleeping there.

Mwr&bc Presents Liz Jones & Broken Windows With Sga Disque Bleu

Live music at THE MUSE in BRECON (Home of the MWR&BC) After a very successful event at The Muse with Liz Jones and Suzy Cargill from Scottish act LIZ JONES & BROKEN WINDOWS on Sep 13th 2025. http://midwalesrandb.club/2025/09/14/liz-jones-suzy-cargill-from-liz-jones-broken-windows-with-special-guest-act-disque-bleu/ Liz & Suzy return with Liz’s full band some 7 months later (Re 18th April 2026) Twists of roots, blues and psychedelia, in a vibe that lies firmly with the 60s spirit of free music. Liz Jones & Broken Windows sound only like themselves, but have been compared to Little Feat, The Faces and Fleetwood Mac, with similarities lying in group buzz on stage and a wave goodbye to neat boxes, each tune simply taken on the path it carves. Live shows are a wild mix of personal expression, genre celebration and individual musicianship. Corralling some of Scotland’s best players, this six-piece have the talent to roam beyond the prescribed pentatonic box … the title track (to Double Measures) is a winningly wonky gypsy-jazz lurch. Classic Rock Magazine Favourite review from the audience! “When this group of eclectic, casual looking musicians join a stage, you could be forgiven for thinking they’d be there to ‘entertain’, a leg up from some decent gigging bar in their home town. At the end of the gig, you are a fan, wondering why they aren’t widely celebrated in the rockin live music world. There’s so much to love.
