What's on in Hillyland

Perth and Kinross, Scotland

The proper local stuff the big sites overlook — from open mic nights to dog shows, toddler groups to talks about local history that turn out to be more interesting than you'd think. Hillyland keeps its calendar surprisingly full, and we've tracked down the lot. Coffee mornings that turn into proper catch-ups. Quiz nights where the same team wins every week and everyone pretends not to mind. Craft fairs, food markets, community screenings, and workshops teaching you things you didn't know you wanted to learn. All the things that make living somewhere feel like actually living somewhere, not just sleeping there.

The day will assist us to think about how music, and sound, help created things praise God, and how listening to and making sound can help us to appreciate our place in the wider scheme of God’s creation.  Psalms tell us to ‘sing new songs’. We will have 2 new songs composed by St Andrews’ students.  Charis Yip’s ‘Call of Creation’ is a song that can be sung with a simple accompaniment, in a contemporary praise-song idiom.  Luis Meseguer Mira’s ‘Genesis’ piece uses traditional plainsong and more modern (but not too challenging) harmonies to set words from Genesis 1.
