What's on in Burscough

Lancashire, England

From craft workshops the kids won't stop asking about to quiz nights that'll test your knowledge of Lancashire trivia (yes, really) — Burscough has it sorted. Coffee mornings, farmers' markets, film screenings, book clubs, open mic nights, toddler groups, and the occasional village fête that runs like clockwork. All the events that happen in village halls and community centres and local venues that the big listings sites don't bother with. We check the parish council pages, the library noticeboards, the venue websites buried three clicks deep. If it's happening locally and it's worth knowing about, it's here.

Exploring Watercolour Workshop Sat 18th April 1:30pm

Join Helen Worthington from Evendawn Arts in this ‘Exploring Watercolour’ Workshop. This is a perfect taster workshop for anyone who’s always wanted to try watercolour painting but have been too nervous to! It’s also great for those with a small amount of experience to practice looser painting styles and build confidence. The aim of this ‘Exploring Watercolours’ class is to have FUN, and to get past the anxiety many people experience when approaching watercolour painting! There is absolutely NO DRAWING involved, so you can simply enjoy playing with the paints, without stressing over the outcome. You’ll explore how to use a basic set of colours and see the way they blend and harmonise on paper, along with using different types of brushes and some more unusual tools to create fascinating effects. There will be a selection of simple and enjoyable exercises, which will offer you a great basis in watercolor painting. You may then want to explore these topics further at later date. This is not the type of class for those with more advanced watercolour skills, or those wishing to learn how to draw/paint landscapes or ‘formal’ types of work. All materials included in this session. Please ensure you bring something suitable to carry your work home in – an A4 folder or envelope will be fine. Please note that if you wish to use Eden’s first floor Tearoom before or after the workshop, even for drinks and cake, you must book a table via the website as availability cannot be...
