Creative Card Printing Day with Tracy Spiers

Have fun making colourful and imaginative printed cards to take home and display, or give to a loved one, with the wonderful artist-illustrator-writer Tracy Spiers (she’s also known as Dr Fun!). Be inspired by the Museum’s beautiful walled garden, known fondly by many as ‘Stroud’s secret garden’. Or make a design inspired by one of your favourite museum objects or something you love about this special place. Get ideas from Rachel Oldfield’s colourful ‘Stroud Folk Prints’ exhibition in the Gallery, or simply let your imaginations guide you. All ages welcome, come with all your family and enjoy being creative. Help us celebrate 10 years of the Garden, and 25 years of the Museum, with your creations. Maybe some of you can help make the museum and garden a special Birthday card? Summer of Play at Tinkley Gate

With three play zones to discover dotted around Tinkley Gate, Woodchester Park this summer, there's plenty to make a full day out for all the family! Get active on the Rainbow Rush with some friendly competition: spacehopper races, a game of rainbow tag, or a mini obstacle course! Wind your way along the wildlife yoga trail for a change of pace in the Orchard. Have you ever tried the frog pose? Or visit the creative corner to unleash your artistic side at one of the easels or cook up a storm at the mud kitchen. There'll also be bookable Workshop Wednesdays to learn how to make a kite, create a tree spirit and more. If you're feeling peckish, grab a wood-fired pizza from Tinkley Gate Cafe or a scoop of ice cream to enjoy on those hot summer days. With many different activities, there’s plenty to excite all ages of children (and adults!).

Summer of Play - Wednesday Workshops

Step into the barn and let your imagination run wild at our Wednesday Workshops this summer. Each week you can have a go at a different nature-inspired craft. Will you design a colourful kite ready to soar through the sky? Create a bubble wand for making spectacular bubbles? Or bring a friendly woodland tree spirit to life? Our workshops are a chance to get crafty, try something new, and have fun with family and friends. There'll be plenty of materials provided, and our volunteers will be on hand to help you get started. A suggested donation of £1 per crafter. No booking required – simply turn up and join in on the day. 3 sessions will run for an hour every Wednesday: - 11 - midday - 12.30pm - 1.30pm - 2pm - 3pm (Apart from Wednesday 5 August when the science lab is on instead.) 15 spaces for crafters per hour, each crafter can be accompanied by up to 2 others. If one session is full then spend your time having fun with all the other free Summer of Play activities, or stop in the cafe for an ice cream and come back for the next one! Come along and be part of the Summer of Play adventure!
