Throop is a quiet corner of Dorset where the pace slows down just enough to notice the rain stopping or start again. Without any big venues on our list yet, we rely on the village hall and local pubs to host whatever gatherings happen this week. It feels like a proper community hub even when the only thing listed is a casual get-together near the church. We keep an eye on what's cooking so you don't have to drive all the way to Weymouth just for a pint.

Communion Service

The mid-week service is a traditional Communion service, usually with hymns accompanied by our organist. It often follows the Book of Common Prayer (1662), which is loved for the beauty of its language and the contemplation and quiet it provides. Usually we gather in the church’s choir stalls. This service generally lasts about 30-45 minutes, and all are welcome. historically this was a Sunday morning service which met before our main service but for the time being this service is meeting on a Wednesday morning instead. Seedlings

Seedlings Baby & Toddler Group meets every Thursday (during term-time). We have two Seedlings sessions to choose from: Session 1: 9:15am-10:30am. Session 2: 10:45am-12noon. All babies, toddlers and pre-school aged children are welcome for free play, crafts & activities, music, singing and snack! All families are required to book on to our weekly Seedlings sessions.
