Woodfired Cooking

This course opens up a world of possibilities on your barbecue, grill or local beach. As well as covering key skills such as lighting and temperature control, you’ll be learning how to cook killer meals on fire! Suitable for those who want to learn to cook food other than the standard barbecue fare, our woodfire course shows how to use a “lid-on” barbecue technique to grill, roast, smoke and bake! During the 4 1/2 hours you and your classmates will prepare a variety of different dishes under the guidance of Rupert and using many of the techniques he uses for events and feasts. Using a combination of charcoal and wood you’ll be taught skills from lighting techniques to controlling temperature and knowing when your food is perfectly cooked. Open up a world of possibilities on your barbecue. Course Overview Duration: 10:00-14:30 Tutors: Rupert Cooper – Head tutor Maximum student to tutor ratio: 8-1 Welcome: Meet your tutor and see for yourself the Philleigh Way farmhouse cookery school and garden. Enjoy a morning tea or coffee. The Day: The day is a mixture of demonstrations and practical hands on cookery. All ingredients and equipment are supplied. Summer of Play at Trelissick

Play on repeat this summer at Trelissick, where there’s no end to the fun. We’ll be celebrating Summer of Play every day between 19 July and 2 September with games, activities and outdoor fun for the whole family. Get active and play tennis on the West Lawn, try lawn games or hold a race to the finish line. Who will be the champion? Embrace your creativity and make-believe in the stables where you’ll find a stage ready for you to dress up, put on a show and tell stories. Explore winding paths on the Trelissick garden trail, running throughout the summer holidays, and find the perfect spots for picnics and chill out spaces. Summer of Play activities are free (normal admission applies), so you can try them all and come back again and again. Dogs on short leads are permitted in the garden at Trelissick, keeping paws on paths. Summer of Play is supported by Pokémon.

Pokémon joins Trelissick's Summer of Play

On top of an already jam-packed Summer of Play, discover the Pokémon zone on the West Lawn where you’ll find a series of challenges to flex your skills and take part in mega games. Enjoy storytelling from James and Jasper the dragon on 29 July, 12, 15, 19 and 26 August, then clown around every Thursday by honing your circus skills with Circo Kernow. Take aim on Fridays and have a go at archery, there’ll be soft kits for younger families to also have a go, and on 1, 5, 22 and 29 August stretch, breathe and feel calm with outdoor family yoga sessions. Play your way on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and let your imagination lead the way. We can’t wait to see what fantastical creatures you create whether you dress up, tell stories or embrace your artistic side. Building Trelissick: from farmhouse to riverside estate

Following the popularity of the Honor Budden exhibition Building Trelissick will now start on the later date of 30 April. Trelissick has evolved from a modest farmhouse into a distinguished riverside estate, shaped by the families who lived and worked here. In a new exhibition in the West Library we explore the story of Trelissick house through the evolution of the building’s architecture. This is a free exhibition, admission to Trelissick applies.
