Summer of Play at Erddig

Step into the carnival and get active on our family-friendly garden trail this summer. Test your skills at the coconut shy, try your hand at hooking a duck, and enjoy storytelling in our mini puppet theatre. You can also have a go at skittles, ring toss, pin the tail on the donkey, or limber up for the limbo. Alongside the carnival trail, there are plenty of creative activities to enjoy: Doodle Mondays on Mondays, 10am–5pm - a self-led activity where you can add your own creation to our wall of art; carnival mask-making every Wednesday, 11am–3pm and Fine Art Fridays every Friday, 11am-3pm 18 July, 1 August, 15 August, 11am-3pm: Face painting 18 August: Enjoy performances from Punch and Judy. There are three 20 minute performances between 1pm and 3pm. Activities are free to enjoy but normal admission charges apply, National Trust members enter for free.

Family Creative Writing Workshop - Kick Off A Story

1876 Year of Wonder – Creative Writing: Kick Off A Story Travel back to 1876, when the Football Association of Wales was founded, and football was just beginning to capture the nation’s imagination. In this lively two-hour family creative writing workshop, we’ll create our own players to star in their own story, create our own commentary for our everyday lives or rewrite football chants and come up with a few of our own! Inspired by the 1876 Year of Wonder and the establishment of the Football Association of Wales in Wrexham! This session is open to all ages with no experience necessary, whether you want to write as a family or engage in storytelling. This session is flexible and contains family-friendly themes and tasks for all ages. What to bring: You can expect a guided creative writing session, with gentle prompts and inspiration. Please bring whatever you feel comfortable writing with (pen, notebook, phone, laptop etc.) and a drink. There will be a short comfort break in the middle and you are welcome to take a break anytime you need during the session. Language: The sessions will predominantly be held in English, using everyday Welsh but participants are welcome to write and take part in any language they are comfortable using. Access:This workshop is located on the ground floor. There is a ‘Changing Places’ accessible toilet on site. Free parking for blue badge holders is available in our multistorey carpark.

Whether it’s gadgets, clothes, or furniture, this is your chance to learn, share, and mend in a fun, friendly setting. No tech skills needed—just a can-do attitude! Come hang out, chat, and help make waste a thing of the past. See you there for some hands-on repair magic! Bring along your broken or damaged item and our volunteer repairers will try to fix it, for free. You can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, and chat to your fellow neighbours while you wait. We’ll even show you how it is done too if you like! The best way to reuse and recycle there is. Typical repairs include; basic bicycle maintenance, electrical appliance repair, computing assistance, sewing, ornament repair, and woodworking; though we will have a look at most things, except Microwaves as they are too dangerous. Got any questions? Just drop us a message on Facebook or Twitter, and we will do our best to ensure a repairer is available to fix your item. More fixers are always welcome – come along even if it is just to find out what is going on, and tell your friends! See you there!
