Open Silent Meditation

The Salisbury Centre is offering a welcoming space for silent community meditation every weekday In the morning at 8:00 – 8:30 am, and In the afternoon at 5:30 – 6:00 pm. Additionally, there is a meditation every Friday 12:00-12:45 pm. These meditations are non-denominational and accessible to all; no experience is needed. The form is 30 minutes of silence, sometimes started with a dedication or invocation. You may sit in any way you find comfortable. A selection of chairs, cushions, stools and even blankets are provided. Practicalities These are 30-minute sessions of silent contemplation (except for Friday 12pm one, which is 45 mins), run by volunteers. Whilst these meditations are not guided as such, feel free to ask if you have any questions or concerns before or after the meditation. Everybody is welcome to just drop in, no need to book ahead. Big Links room Music Circles provide us with the perfect way to have fun, express ourselves, beat stress and connect with our community. In our Community Music Circle, we will create ‘in the moment’ music with drums, percussion, voices and other easy-to-play melodic instruments. Join in whatever way you can and are comfortable with. Drums and percussion provided (or bring your own). Music Circle information There’s no need to book. Just come along. Start time is 7:30pm (running until 8:30pm). Please arrive five/ten minutes before the start time. Our music circles are for adults (minimum age 16). The session costs £3 or £5 - just choose what suits you on the night! Morag from Moving Music Morag is a qualified Drum Circle Facilitator, Music Medicine Practitioner, and Social Worker. Morag is also trained to deliver sessions in Expressive Rhythm stories and Rythym2Recovery. Morag has over 20 years’ experience providing opportunities for individuals and communities to explore the moving power of music. She has worked with people from all walks of life and is passionate in her belief that we are all musicians. Using easy to play and unusual instruments her inclusive friendly and fun approach creates a safe space to play. Participants will be supported to grow in skills and confidence and to discover and awaken their own inner music.

About CREATE: CREATE is an art-making experience for early years, that engages parents and carers in messy play with the children, aged 5 and under, in their care. Running two mornings a week the project aims to provide active childhood experiences for adults and children. CREATE provides the resources, ideas and creative inspiration for a range of activities that can often be replicated in the home environment using recycled, low-cost and easily obtainable materials. No previous experience is needed, all abilities welcome! A healthy snack is provided for all attending. Sessions may take place indoors – or sometimes outdoors if weather permits!
