Walking group

Our walking group takes place every Thursday at 10.30am and is open to Hospice patients and their carers/families, bereaved carers/families, volunteers, and staff. The group caters for all abilities and walking speeds. Most people do a circular walk around Willen’s North Lake, but some take a shorter ‘out and back’ route. Mobility scooters and well-behaved dogs are welcome. The walk usually lasts 30 mins to an hour, then there’s time for tea, coffee, biscuits and a chat back at the Hospice’s Wellbeing Centre. Being more active and being outside has profound benefits to health and wellbeing, for everyone. It can help you strengthen your muscles, improve your heart and lung health, improve your balance, and manage fatigue. It can also help to reduce any anxiety or depression you may have, increase your confidence, and improve your sleep and memory. The group gives you an opportunity to socialise with others, which can also support better physical and mental wellbeing. Our Therapeutic and Wellbeing team staff join the walk each week to offer additional support if needed.
