Kinusaiga is a modern Japanese craft where patterns are built from small pieces of fabric tucked into carved lines on a soft board. Instead of stitching, the design is created by gently pressing each fabric fragment into place, forming a richly textured, layered picture. The result is a beautiful patchwork‑style artwork that blends traditional textile charm with contemporary crafting techniques. What You’ll Do Learn how to prepare your foam board and transfer your chosen design Cut and shape fabric pieces to fit your pattern Press and tuck fabric into carved lines to build your artwork Layer colours and textures to create depth and detail Finish and mount your piece ready to take home You Will Explore How colour, pattern and texture influence your final design Techniques for clean edges and smooth layering How to design your own image, if you feel inspired This Workshop is Perfect for • Complete beginners • Anyone who enjoys textiles, pattern, or mindful making • People who like slow, absorbing crafts • No experience is needed. You will be using a craft knife to cut your design into the foam board, it’s a bit like drawing a line but with added pressure!
