About this event
When Saturday, 10:45 – 12:15 About the Event Tranquil Wisdom Insight Meditation (TWIM) is a meditation practice rooted in the original teachings of the Buddha, particularly as taught by American-born monk Bhante Vimalaramsi. It emphasizes the development of insight (vipassanā) through tranquility (samatha) and mindfulness. The core of the practice is the 6R process, which is used to skillfully handle distractions and cultivate the 8 Jhana levels of a rapturous, collected mind. The six R steps are: 1:Recognize when the mind has become distracted. 2:Release the distraction by letting go of the thought. 3:Relax the tension in both the body and mind. 4Re-smile to bring a lightness and joy into the practice. 5:Return to the object of meditation, usually the feeling of loving-kindness (mettā) or the breath. 6:Repeat the process whenever the mind wanders. TWIM also integrates the use of loving-kindness as a meditation object and how this wholesome state of mind naturally develops through the divine obodes or Brahmaviharas, which can lead to the understanding of dependent origination, with a focus on experiencing the impersonal nature of thoughts and feelings, thus leading to the cessation of craving and suffering. About the Facilitator Ross Deighton With over 2 decades of experience in meditation and seeking higher truth and enlightenment. Ross had tried many different meditation systems.
