Homebird is a story about where you belong. About finding your place in the ever-changing world. It’s about keeping your head above water, even when the sea levels are rising. Above all, it’s a story about knowing you’re home – performed by someone from Lichfield, in Lichfield, for the people of Lichfield… you will laugh, you will cry – and you will never look at Lichfield Trent Valley station in quite the same way ever again! Katie Arnstein is a writer and performer from Lichfield. Her work includes the multi-award-winning storytelling trilogy It’s a Girl! which consists of Bicycles and Fish, Sexy Lamp and Sticky Door, awarded Show of the Week at VAULT Festival twice, Pleasance Pick of VAULT, an Offie Commendation for a short run and shortlisted for both The Popcorn Prize and The Evening Standard’s Future of Theatre Award. The Long Run was nominated for an Offie Award for Best Performance Piece and Show of the ’s first television commission, Wolverine Woman premiered on BBC Three in October 2023. Step into the dazzling world of 18th‑century Versailles as designer and dress historian Gemma Thompson brings the fashions of Marie Antoinette’s court to life. In this talk and live demonstration, Gemma will be dressed in a robe à l’anglaise like the one seen in Marie Antoinette’s portraits — revealing the hidden details of construction, fit, and silhouette that can’t be seen in paintings. Through stories of Rose Bertin, the rise of the royal marchandes de modes, and the influence of Versailles from the reign of Louis XIV to the arrival of Marie Antoinette, discover how fashion became a language of power, artistry, and rebellion. Tickets cost £12 per person. Pre-booking is essential, spaces are limited. Tickets can be booked in person in our Bookshop, or by calling us on .
