Slawek was born and raised in Gdynia, northern Poland. In 2007 he moved to Brighton and the countryside around opened his eyes to landscape, especially the South Downs. He say that his first attempts at landscape in Sussex were frustrating. That’s because the traditional, wide angle, approach often doesn’t work here. The South Downs lack defined peaks and are mildly undulated. Consequently, wide angles tends to push away what’s their most distinct features. Which are their curves. Subsequently he discovered that longer focal lengths and more abstract frames showcased the South Downs better. Landscape: the Art of Seeing includes a look at composition, anticipation and imagination.

Children will learn how art has been used to tell stories, honour nature, and express identity, while developing their own creative voice. Inspired by traditional patterns, powerful animal symbolism, dramatic landscapes, and meaningful artefacts, students will experiment with a wide range of materials and techniques. Projects may include bold mixed-media works, textured painting, drawing inspired by nature and wildlife, and sculptural pieces that celebrate form, pattern, and storytelling.
