About this event
On this course learn how to adapt and create an image so it is suitable for soft ground etching on a 15x15cm or 20x15cm zinc plate. Prepare your zinc plate, apply the soft ground, then draw your image into the ground. Etch using copper sulphate. Once you have completed your plate image, ink up, wipe and print your plate on an etching press. By the end of the course, you will have created a small variable edition of prints to take home. Course structure • Prepare your drawing and registration for the plate • Prepare your etching plate • Coat the plate with soft ground • Draw your image onto the plate using thin paper and a pencil • Etch the plate using copper sulphate • Ink up and print using an etching press Pre course information Bring images to inspire your print suitable for the plate size. Experience level Suitable for beginners and those wishing to refresh their skills. Maximum 6 places
