Marty Paich was born 100 years ago in January 1925. His name may not be familiar but You will have heard his arrangements he worked with many jazz greats Art Pepper, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Sammy Davis Jon and Mel Torme. Tonight we celebrate his craft playing charts he wrote for Mel Torme and Sammy Davis Jr. plus new arrangements sung by Mel aficionado Jonny Mosesson arranged by Simon Whiteside who transcribed the Marty Paich charts and loves writing in his west coast style. The Denmark Street Tentet provide the expert backing. Jonny Mosesson Jonny Mosesson is an innovative and dynamic musician whose unique sound blends the rich traditions of Jewish music with the improvisational freedom of jazz. A passionate performer, composer, and arranger, Jonny's work bridges cultures, blending sacred melodies and Jewish heritage with the complexity and creativity of jazz. Born into a family deeply rooted in Jewish culture, Jonny's love for Jewish music began at a young age. However, it was his encounter with jazz that truly shaped his musical journey. Studying both genres rigorously, Jonny has developed a style that weaves together the spirituality of Jewish prayer and the artistic expression of jazz, creating an engaging fusion that resonates with audiences worldwide.
