Roland Perrin’s Blue Planet Orchestra is a new project featuring a six piece band playing the music of Roland Perrin. Perrin is a pianist and composer steeped in the traditions of jazz, Latin and African music. This is shaped by a talent for arranging of the highest order, reflecting an understanding of both the great jazz and classical composers. The band features long-term collaborators of Roland’s chosen to engage with the effortless weaving of tight arrangements and free-flowing improvisation. Bob McKay (tenor sax and flutes) Sax Appeal, Paul McCartney, Ronnie Scott Big Band, Cliff Richard, Claire Teal, Donna Summers, Nelson Rangel, Gloria Gaynor, Ian Shaw, Georgie Fame, Mel Torme, George Shearing, John Dankworth Big Band and Gareth Lockrane Big Band. Paul Taylor (trombone) Latin jazz veteran with Roberto Pla, Snowboy. Composer: Blowpipes Trombone Trio, Click Beetle. Freelancer with The Pogues, Loose Tubes, Brotherhood of Breath, Mingus Big Band. Jeremy Shoham (alto and soprano sax and clarinet) Founder and leader of Just East of Jazz and active on the London jazz scene for over 40 years having played with Liane Caroll, Jim Mullen, John Etheridge, Neil Angilley, Paul Booth, Jo Harrop, Cameron Pierre, George Melly, Dave O’Higgins, Gilad Atzmon, Jonathan Gee, Liam Dunachie, Anita Wardell, Nigel Price. Emmanuel Oladokun (bass) Emmanuel Oladokun began singing in a church choir at the age of four and started playing bass in his early teens.
