Step into the rhythm of Gypsy Jazz with Chardon Bleu at Biggar Django Festival! Led by Stephen Tyler, this lively Swing & Lindy Hop social dance welcomes dancers of all levels. Enjoy upbeat tunes, classic Lindy Hop vibes, and the buzz of a full live band. The lineup also features Jim MacKay on guitar, Martin MacLeod on double bass and Andy Whiteford on clarinet, flute and saxophone. A perfect chance to put into practice what you learned at Saturday’s dance workshop! Wear comfortable clothes and smooth soled shoes, bring water, and let your feet be happy! Visiting musicians are encouraged to join the band. Bring your charts, iPads, and stands to slot straight into the groove! This event is open to the public and a fantastic way to soak up the festival spirit on the dance floor. Grab your friends, your dancing shoes, and get ready to swing, hop, and celebrate live music! Spaces are limited to 30 participants. It’s FREE, so book early! If you are unable to make it on the day please let us know so that your place can be offered to someone else. Because it’ll make us unwell and sad and… so we shouldn’t try?” In a run-down village hall, 20 of the best young musicians in Scotland are rehearsing. The music is hard, but they can work harder. This time, they’ll be perfect. This time, they’ll finally make their parents, and their exacting conductor, proud. They shuffle their music, tune up and begin. But is being the best worth it, if the price is losing your soul? Content Warning: This play contains occasional mild swearing throughout, and one strong swearword. It also features an overdose, which is described but not seen onstage. Recommended for ages 12+.
