Have you ever wondered what it is like to live and conduct research on a polar ice sheet? The Greenland Ice Sheet is the largest mass of land ice in the Northern Hemisphere, comprised of over 2.5 million Gt of ice, equivalent to over 7 metres of global sea level rise if it were to melt entirely. A mass of ice so large that it feels timeless, is now changing fast in response to a warming atmosphere and ocean. Dr. Heather Guy has spent 355 days working, living, and collecting data on the role the atmosphere plays in driving increasing surface melt on the Greenland Ice Sheet.
