Jazz singer-songwriter and composer Sarah L King brings her brand new album tour The Light Ahead to PizzaExpress Live Soho. With a heady cocktail of soul, jazz and funk, King and her world class trio deliver her catchy groove-led original songs with King’s assured pure-toned vocals and a warm stage presence, making this a show not to be missed! Sarah L King grew up under the influence of her jazz trumpeter and bandleader father. After singing in several London-based soul and gospel choirs, and a creative career in filmmaking and screenwriting, King has emerged as an accomplished vocalist, songwriter and composer, catapulting onto the London jazz scene. King’s much acclaimed first album Fire Horse, produced by Claire Martin OBE (producer of The Light Ahead) has featured on Jazz FM and BBC Radio 3 Jazz Requests. King has toured with her Stockholm trio, and made a sold out appearance at the EFG London Jazz Festival 2025. With her stellar line-up, this is a fantastic opportunity to see a live performance of King’s groove-led and uplifting songs from this exciting new album. Dom Pipkin

Alongside a glittering session career (David Byrne, Ray Davies, Morcheeba), piano player and songwriter Dom Pipkin has been described by Blues in Britain as “one of the world’s greatest exponents of New Orleans piano”. He first discovered the New Orleans style in the early 90s, and has gone on to become a regular visitor and performer in that city, with appearances that include the highly acclaimed “Piano Night” and the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage festival. He is a regular fixture on the European blues and boogie Woogie festival circuit having played 1000’s of club and theatre, radio and TV dates in a career spanning nearly three decades. Jazz star Jamie Cullum says “I can’t hold a candle to this guy”. Pipkin developed a particular specialisation for the unique flavours of maverick New Orleans piano star James Booker (1939 - 1983) capturing the player’s trademark combination of driving blues married with rhapsodic classical influences. He was invited to play at the world premiere of the documentary “Bayou Maharajah” at SXSW in 2014, and at multiple subsequent screenings of the film. Pipkin regularly performs and records in New Orleans, and has shared stages with legends such as Allen Toussaint, Dr John and Screamin’ Jay Hawkins. Grammy award winner Jon Cleary invites him to jam whenever he’s in town. In live shows Pipkin mixes his own compelling songwriting with blues and Big Easy classics.

Down To The Bone

Grammy Nominated project with over Half Million Sales "hailed as the kings of UK jazz groove". Down To The Bone is Stuart Wade as producer, writer and mastermind behind the whole groove project, working with other talented musicians and co-writers to bring together a project of good grooves. Set up at the tail end of 1995 when Wade decided to take a track from the soul band he was in at the time, Think Twice, and remix it to give it a rawer and stripped down feel. The result was the Down To The Bone remix of the track 'Joy Is Free' which had great success. This Way Forward will be released on Dome/Cherry Red Records on 5th June. Following on from the success of his remix he teamed up with Think Twice keyboard player, Simon Greenaway, to put together a string of songs. This resulted in the first release on a 12” single of Staten Island Groove . Released on Internal Bass Records, a label Wade set up with another member of Think Twice. This resulted in rave reviews for the single and club and radio play across the U.K. It was at this time that Stuart decided to try to complete an album, From Manhattan To Staten , a title Wade came up with to show his influences from across the pond, it was decided to try to take the whole sound over to America to see what would happen.
