Be among the first to enjoy some of the best new writing coming from Scotland’s playwrights. Become part of the writer’s process as they develop their early-stage plays, brought to life through rehearsed readings performed script-in-hand by professional actors. Play #1: Bet On It It’s Brandon’s first day at the bookies and Michelle is left to train him despite knowing it’s only a matter of time before the shop’s closed down. Bet On It’ explores the disappearance of community spaces and the unexpected emotional role of betting shops as places of connection and belonging. Through humour and memory, the play explores nostalgia and what we lose when physical spaces vanish. Playwright: Dylan Mooney Dylan is a playwright and theatre maker based in West Lothian. A recent graduate of Performing Arts Studio Scotland and currently being mentored by Playwright Studio Scotland. Dylan likes to explore human connection and what it means to exist in the world. He is particularly interested in socially and politically engaged work and often brings his experience as a working-class artist to the forefront of what he creates. Play #2: It’s Legal Tender* Graham and Paula plan to perform a heist on their local London pub, but this not your usual stick-up job.
