About this event

Join Ann & Yvonne for a fun and interactive Victorian Bread Making experience in the Museum Summerhouse! Step back in time and discover how one of Britain’s most important staple foods was made in Victorian times. Explore the sights, smells and stories of traditional baking as Ann & Yvonne bring Victorian bread making to life. Children and adults alike will have the opportunity to knead and shape their own bread using dough that’s been prepared in advance, just as Victorian bakers would have done. Once baked in a modern oven, you’ll be able to take your freshly baked bread home to enjoy. Along the way, learn about the traditional ingredients, tools and techniques used before modern kitchens and electric ovens transformed baking, and discover the important role bread played in everyday Victorian life. Perfect for families and anyone with an interest in history, food or traditional crafts, this engaging session offers a delicious glimpse into the past. Dates: Wednesday 12th & Thursday 13th AugustTime: 10:00am-12:00pmLocation: Museum Summerhouse, Framework Knitters Museum, Ruddington £2 a go – No booking required. Simply drop in and join us!
