He is the grandson of the Scottish Colourist Samuel John Peploe (1871–1935), one of the most important figures in early 20th-century British painting. Guy Peploe is widely recognised as a leading authority on the Scottish Colourists. He has curated several exhibitions of S. J. Peploe’s work and has published several important monographs, drawing on privileged access to family archives and private collections. His writing and curatorial work have contributed significantly to the scholarship and public understanding of his grandfather’s legacy, placing S. J. Peploe firmly within the narrative of British and European modernism.
