Pixie Anam (formerly Pixie and The Gypsies) are embarking on a new chapter in their history, with a name change to capture their creative evolution across a decade-long musical journey. Originally formed as a gypsy jazz quartet, different influences and experiences have led the band to experiment with an increasingly broad palette of sounds, with their latest album, ‘Slice Of Life’, taking inspiration from the worlds of blues, folk and cinematic jazz. The band’s witty lyricism, melodic strings and infectious rhythms remain, but the sound has grown from its traditional roots into something more expansive. A wall of lush chords, bluesy violin, and lilting, honeyed vocals are the hallmarks of their recent release, with its haunting vocal harmonies underpinned by rich basslines, vibrant percussion arrangements, and lyrical storytelling that is more powerful than ever.
