, to Coming up in June, Bow Arts will be hosting a week of workshops, walks, and activities at the Lakeside Centre, inviting neighbours and visitors to enjoy a visit to one of Thamesmead’s iconic brutalist buildings. The workshops are a chance to build community connections, explore a new place, return to a favorite building, or simply get creative and learn something new. The highlight of the week is a new exhibition at the Lakeside Centre, featuring the Thamesmead Tapestry, a new artwork created by artist Marcus Orlandi, in collaboration with people from Thamesmead and beyond. Our week of workshops lines up with the London Festival of Architecture. This year’s theme is Belonging, bringing together questions of collective agency, and seeking space that is shared and open to difference: belonging that is not a passive state but an active practice of imagination, courage and solidarity. What’s On Thamesmead Wildlife Wanders – Summer Walk Saturday 6th June, 11:00am – 1:30pm A seasonal wildlife walk in Thamesmead with ornithological investigator J D Swann, with an emphasis on observation of birds, local ecology and history.
