The Bads are always in demand to play at clubs and festivals in UK and Europe and this is a great opportunity to experience this wonderful funky (and friendly) band up close in a club setting. Their music has always featured one quality above all others – viz. the groove, the whole groove and nothing but…! With some star session musicians and 3 stunning female singers upfront, this will be an evening of soul, blues, funk, jazz and just maybe a bit of country to touch your heart, soul and feet! Over the last decade, Bad Girls Groove (“The Bads”) have built an enviable reputation for their high octane vocal and visual performances both in the UK (Hard Rock Cafe, Blues Kitchens, Crypt - St Martins Trafalgar Sq., PizzaExpress etc) and in Europe, particularly at the Fete de la St Louis in sunny South of France and Cork Guinness Jazz Festival. In addition to top vocal talent, the Bads now feature some truly impressive session musicians, starting in the steaming ”Engine Room”, with extraordinary in demand drummer Jamie Murray (Robben Ford band and Gretsch drums and Zildjian endorsee) and definitely “the drummer to watch”, in the opinion of Rhythm Magazine, and Trev Boxall on bass who according to London Jazz News “…brings us squarely back into the territory of 70’s jazz-funk “.

Grace Sheene is an American jazz vocalist and songwriter based in London, whose velvety, powerful voice and radiant stage presence have quickly made her one of the most captivating emerging voices on the city’s jazz scene. Steeped in the rich tradition of the Great American Songbook, her voice carries a warmth and soulfulness that feels at once timeless and strikingly fresh. A compelling interpreter of classic repertoire, Sheene brings emotional honesty, clarity of tone, and natural storytelling to every performance. Kirsty King makes her debut at The Pheasantry with a programme drawn from the Great American Songbook. The evening will centre on the music of four composers; Cole Porter, Hoagy Carmichael, Duke Ellington and Harold Arlen celebrating the timeless magic at the heart of their songs. Expect a thoughtful mix of well-known standards and lesser-known gems. Kirsty’s playful delivery and relaxed stage presence create an evening of storytelling, audience interaction, and rich jazz tones, accompanied by her wonderful band who bring each arrangement to life. Kirsty King is a London born jazz singer inspired by the great female jazz pioneers and the golden age of Broadway. Her love of jazz grew out of a background in theatre, where many of her favourite shows were rooted in the Great American Songbook, sparking a deep connection to its music and storytelling. She has performed to great acclaim at venues across London, most recently appearing as a soloist at a sold-out Royal Albert Hall event. Bringing a fresh, story led approach to classic material, Kirsty’s expressive rich vocals invite audiences into each song with vulnerability, charm and a sense of cinematic romance. Born and raised in Edinburgh, Fraser Urquhart is one of the U.K's foremost pianists, specialising in jazz and American show-tunes of the 1920s-1950s.
