The world-famous Flying Scotsman will be visiting Swanage Railway in autumn 2026, as part of our 50th anniversary celebrations. This is a hugely exciting moment for the railway and a rare opportunity to see one of the most famous steam locomotives in the world here in Purbeck. Owned by the National Railway Museum, this iconic locomotive will be with us for ten days, from Friday 23 October to Sunday 1 November 2026 (inclusive). Bookings open in mid-July Full details will be shared soon, but we’re delighted to confirm the dates and what visitors can expect during this very special visit. Dates and what to expect During its time at Swanage Railway, Flying Scotsman will be on static display on selected days and hauling passenger services on others, giving visitors several ways to enjoy this landmark event. Steam-hauled services Flying Scotsman will be hauling trains along the Swanage Railway line on: Saturday 24 October Sunday 25 October Wednesday 28 October Thursday 29 October Sunday 1 November Services will operate between Swanage, Harman’s Cross, Corfe Castle and Norden, offering the chance to experience this legendary locomotive in steam through the Purbeck countryside.
