7.30pm-8.30pm, £15, in building, 13+, Wednesday 24 June 2026 // YIDDISH THEATRE REBOOTED The London Yiddish Players, London’s first Yiddish theatre company in 30 years, bring the traditions of Yiddish theatre kvetching and screaming into 2026 with their debut performance: a hilarious and moving mishmash of new writing and sketches alongside extracts from Yiddish classics such as Ansky’s The Dybbuk and the works of Sholem Aleykhem, writer of what later became Fiddler On The Roof. Directed by comedian/writer David Schneider, together with theatre artist/Yiddish educator Tamara Micner, and East End historian/singer Vivi Lachs, the company consists of professional and non-professional performers, Yiddish speakers and non-Yiddish speakers. No knowledge of Yiddish is necessary to attend and enjoy. Though by the time you leave, you may well feel, to use a Yiddish word, like a maven. None of this would be possible without the support of the Yiddish Cafe Trust and its chair Stephen Ogin; UCL’s Department of Hebrew & Jewish Studies and Associate Professor of Yiddish Studies, Sonia Gollance; and the generosity of the Shoresh Charitable Trust.
