7.30pm-8.45pm, £20, in building, Thursday 25 June 2026 // Join us for an enlightening evening exploring the remarkable world of 20th-century Jewish hairdressers with Zuleika Rodgers and Leslie Cavendish. Zuleika Rodgers, Associate Professor in Jewish Studies and Director of the Centre for Jewish Studies, will discuss her forthcoming book—a history of the profound influence Jewish hairdressers had on fashion throughout the 20th century. Her personal connection to this story runs deep: her father was the first Vidal Sassoon stylist to come to Dublin. We will also hear from Leslie Cavendish, The Beatles’ hairdresser from 1967 to 1975. Cavendish left school at just 15, with no formal artistic training, to pursue a career in hairdressing. He went on to work with iconic 1960s stylist Vidal Sassoon and soon counted many of the era’s biggest stars among his clients, including Keith Moon, the Bee Gees, the Dave Clark Five, James Hunt, Terence Stamp, Jane Asher, James Taylor, and many more. But the highlight of his career was styling four of the most famous heads of hair in history: The Beatles.
