In May 2024, the Penrith2Kendal Arc project started its two-year development phase, providing staff resource to work up ambitious plans for land management, community engagement, access improvement, monitoring, funding and governance. These plans will be implemented over a 20-year delivery phase, which should commence in Spring 2026. During this development phase, managed through a partnership with Lowther Farming Partnership and Cumbria Connect , the project team is working with all 30+ farmers and landowners to explore options for large-scale, ambitious nature restoration that will enhance the condition and connectivity of a range of important habitats, including woodlands, wood pasture, rivers and floodplains, hay meadows and peatlands. Planning and consultation will also be carried out to assess whether Water Voles, Black Grouse, Pine Martens and a range of other missing species can be returned to the landscape. Covering more than 16,000 hectares, the Penrith to Kendal Arc project area covers multiple watersheds and habitats and supports a huge array of wildlife. Most of the project lies within the Lake District National Park, arguably England’s most spectacular and iconic landscape. Threlkeld Village Hall, Monday 21st September 2026, 7:30pm. Door and Bar from 7pm. Entry £3, pay on the door.
