About this event
The Freud Museum London is delighted to host this evening event to celebrate the paperback release of Lynne Segal’s ‘Lean on Me’. On the night we will be joined by Lynne Segal and Akshi Singh to explore the themes of care, intimacy, and collective responsibility that are at the core of Lynne’s book. Lynne and Akshi will discuss what it means to depend on one another in an age of social fragmentation, inequality and climate crisis, and consider how practices of radical care can help us imagine a more hopeful future. ________________________________________________________________________ About the book Have you ever relied on the kindness of strangers? What brings people together to find hope and solidarity? What do we owe each other as citizens and comrades? Questions of care, intimacy, education, meaningful work, and social engagement lie at the core of our ability to understand the world and its possibilities for human flourishing. In Lean On Me feminist thinker Lynne Segal goes in search of hope in her own life and in the world around her. She finds it entwined in our intimate commitments to each other and our shared collective endeavours. Segal calls this shared dependence ‘radical care’.
