Focusing on landmark transformations in sound, colour and vision, we will explore how each breakthrough expanded what cinema could express, who it could reach and how audiences could see, think & feel. Through iconic films and class discussion, join Julia to learn about cinema’s past and its enduring source of inspiration, creativity and cultural power. No prior film knowledge is needed - just an open mind and a love of watching films. Who Delivers It? Dr Julia Wagner is a lecturer and writer specialising in Jewish-interest film and television. She holds a PhD in Film Studies and is a member of the London Film Critics’ Circle. Her writing has been published widely, including by the BFI, Sight & Sound and The Jewish Chronicle. From 2017-23, she curated JW3/BFI archive project, Jewish Britain on Film.
