Join local writer Catherine Speakman of Tess of the Vale for a gentle guided walk exploring the stories, history and landscape of Stourton Caundle in the Blackmore Vale. Following the village’s Stile Trail, this walk weaves together local folklore, medieval history and literary connections while exploring the fields, lanes and hidden corners that shape this Dorset landscape today. Along the way we’ll uncover traces of lost manors, village legends and the layers of history written into the land. Catherine Speakman is the writer behind Tess of the Vale, a Dorset-based project exploring landscape, history and walking routes across the county. Through her writing and research she brings together folklore, local history and the experience of walking to reveal the stories hidden within the Dorset landscape. Tickets £5 – book online via ticketsource.com here. Part of the Sturminster Newton Literaray Festival – Sturlitfest.
