Pointing: Theory & Practice – Two-Day Course

A two day course, covering all elements of lime pointing, ideal for anyone looking to learn about the use of lime; whether you’re a listed building owner, an architect, surveyor, or a builder who has not worked with lime previously. Course information: · You’ll learn the history and tradition of this craft, balancing theory and practical examples with demonstrations. · Uncover an in-depth knowledge of the lime cycle; from calcining to matured lime putty, manufacturing, conservation ethics and principles – plus on site practical examples. · We’ll address all aspects of proper lime pointing/repointing practice, from correct raking out & preparation, mortar choices and applications, to after care and finishing techniques. · You’ll also get the chance to do conservation repointing on a listed structure/building. On the second day of the course, we’ll produce a “Hot Lime” mortar used on site. Other useful information: · Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided free of charge · Lunch will pm. · An option to purchase tool bundle will be offered booking *The tool bundle is not compulsory you’re welcome to bring your own tools and PPE .However, you will need these items to effectively participate in this course. Tool bundle includes: · A stone pick (for raking out) · A plastic hawk and selection of pointing tools · Waterproof site gloves · Safety glasses · Sturdy site bucket · Sponge · Simple spray bottle · All other materials are included in course price

2 Day Stained Glass Course (Leaded Method)

Complete a small stained glass panel to take home in this full weekend course. This two day course provides a detailed look at making a stained glass panel, working on a simple design within a template. You'll choose your glass from a selection and the tutor will show you how to cut it to a pattern. You'll then be taught how to cut and shape your lead came, then solder, cement and polish your stained glass. You'll complete a 28cm x 20cm stained glass panel which can be hung or displayed in your home. No experience is required. This course is suitable for adult beginners. Your tutor for this course is Steve Lewis. Steve Lewis trained as a stained glass designer at Swansea Metropolitan University, gaining further experience at Lincoln Cathedral as a trainee in stained glass conservation. In 1998 Steve was awarded a scholarship to study stained glass conservation by the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST). In 2012 Steve obtained a Masters in Historic Conservation at Oxford Brookes. In 2014 Steve established SDL Stained Glass, and continues to provide high quality services in design and conservation of stained glass. Our class sizes are small, so you'll have a chance to engage with the tutor while you work. There will be a break for lunch and a mess room to eat lunch in, alternatively there is an on-site café. Tea and coffee provided. This course is 9am-5pm Saturday and Sunday, please see the booking page for available dates.

Make your own Fabric Sketchbook(2 day workshop) Sat 8th &

A brand new workshop for 2026 — and one I’ve wanted to create for years! Come and spend a weekend making a beautiful fabric sketchbook with me, exploring a range of playful printing and sewing techniques along the way. From creating screen prints with embroidery hoops to ‘drawing’ with sewing machines, this workshop is all about experimentation, creativity and happy accidents. Throughout the day we’ll gather inspiration in our “Happy Squares” before developing imagery and motifs for your pages — and don’t panic, I’ll be there to guide you every step of the way and help you discover fantastic ideas to work from. By the end of the workshop you’ll leave with your own bound fabric sketchbook filled with unique textile pages to treasure and continue building on at home. Please don’t wear your best clothes, as we may get a little messy! Tea, coffee and a sweet treat are included throughout the day, but please bring your own lunch. The workshop will take place in my new first-floor studio at Kingfisher Galleries and Studios, 2 Gate Farm, Kiddington, Woodstock, OX20 1DB. Please note the studio is accessed via one flight of stairs.

Meet the bees workshop for families

This is a unique opportunity to see and learn about honeybees. With our expert beekeepers you’ll get up close to our hives where you’ll see the different type of bee – queen, drone and workers, and the honey capped in the frames. We have two sessions available: 11am-12pm and 12.30-1.30pm. Groups must be no larger than two adults and three children. Open to children age 8 and above. All children must be accompanied by an adult throughout the workshop. Bee suits provided. Please note, this activity is not suitable for anyone who has required medical attention as a result of a sting, or pregnant women. Limited places available.
