Full Afternoon Landscape Painting Workshop - 'Sunlit Meadow'

Full Afternoon Landscape Painting Workshop ‘Sunlit Meadow’ A 4½ hour immersive landscape painting workshop. Join me for an inspiring afternoon of landscape painting as we capture the warmth and beauty of a sunlit summer meadow filled with wild daisies, cornflowers and glowing evening light. This immersive workshop is inspired by the changing English countryside and focuses on the techniques I use in my own landscape paintings to create atmosphere, depth and luminosity. Working on a 30cm x 25cm board, you’ll learn how to build a landscape using layered acrylic techniques, expressive mark-making, colour harmony and subtle light effects. With a maximum of just five participants, you’ll benefit from plenty of individual guidance and support throughout the session. Suitable for beginners and more experienced painters alike, this workshop offers a relaxed and supportive environment where you can develop new skills while creating your own atmospheric summer landscape to take home. All materials are included, along with tea, coffee, and light refreshments. As this is a continuous 4½-hour session, there won’t be a formal lunch break, but you’re very welcome to bring sandwiches or snacks to eat during the workshop. By the end of the session, you’ll have created your own landscape and gained techniques you can continue to develop in your own work.

August Seasonal Landscape Painting Course - Wednesday Mornings

August Seasonal Landscape Painting Course – Reflections of Summer Light Inspired by the quiet beauty of late summer, this atmospheric composition captures sunlight filtering through a canopy of trees and shimmering across the surface of still water below. Throughout this four-week course, we’ll explore how to create the illusion of glowing light, luminous reflections and atmospheric depth using layered acrylic techniques. The composition is built around the contrast between rich shadow and brilliant light, with warm sunlight breaking through the foliage and dancing across the water’s surface. Over four weekly sessions, we’ll explore how to capture the magic of evening light within the landscape, using layered acrylic techniques to create depth, luminosity, and a strong sense of place. You’ll learn how to paint glowing skies, atmospheric effects, sunlit meadows, and distant trees, while developing confidence in composition, colour mixing, texture, and expressive mark-making. As with all my landscape courses, I’ll be sharing many of the techniques I use within my own professional painting practice, helping you create a finished artwork that captures the fleeting beauty of a summer meadow at sunset. Working in acrylics on 45 × 38 cm board, you will be guided step by step through my layered organic landscape process, learning how to build natural meadow depth, create luminous light effects and develop expressive texture through grasses and wildflowers.

'Abstract Forest' 3½ Hour Painting Workshop

Build an atmospheric woodland using textured layered acrylics, expressive techniques and metallic highlights. Working with acrylics on board, we’ll build up layers of colour and texture to create depth and atmosphere. You’ll experiment with a variety of tools, including silicone spatulas, applicator bottles and rigger brushes, as we gradually develop a richly layered woodland scene. No artistic ability is required, and the trees themselves are surprisingly easy to paint. It’s a fun and rewarding process, with each layer adding more colour, luminosity and atmosphere, transforming the surface into a magical forest filled with light, depth and wonder. In just 3½ hours, you’ll learn the techniques and materials I use in my own painting practice to create your own richly textured woodland painting. Guided step by step throughout the session, you’ll leave with a finished piece to take home and be proud of, together with the understanding and confidence to continue developing these techniques in your own work. Your painting will be created on a 30cm × 30cm 3mm MDF board; a beautifully responsive and durable surface that works perfectly with layered acrylic techniques and is ideal for framing, which many participants choose to do after the workshop. Run from the comfort of my studio in Ditchling, this workshop takes place in a supportive and nurturing environment with an intimate group of up to six people, allowing plenty of one-to-one tuition. Suitable for all artistic abilities...

Full Afternoon Landscape Painting Workshop - 'Summer Water Reflections'

Full Afternoon Landscape Painting Workshop – August ‘Summer Water Reflections’ A 4½ hour immersive landscape painting workshop. Join me for an inspiring afternoon of landscape painting as we capture the tranquillity and atmosphere of a summer evening reflected in still waters. Inspired by the beauty of the English countryside, this workshop focuses on creating a landscape filled with glowing reflections, soft mist and warm evening light. Working on a 30cm x 25cm board, you’ll learn the techniques I use in my own landscape paintings to create depth, atmosphere and luminosity through layered acrylic techniques, expressive mark-making and subtle colour harmony. The smaller board size has been carefully chosen to allow you to create a beautifully resolved painting within the five-hour session while still exploring all the key techniques used to build an atmospheric landscape. With a maximum of just five participants, you’ll benefit from plenty of individual guidance and support as I demonstrate how to create convincing water reflections, distant trees, soft atmospheric effects and the gentle glow of sunset across the landscape. Suitable for beginners and more experienced painters alike, this workshop offers a relaxed and supportive studio environment where you can develop new skills while creating your own atmospheric waterside landscape to take home. All materials are included, along with tea, coffee, and light refreshments.
