National Youth Choir of Wales

The National Youth Choir of Wales (NYCW) return to Swansea's iconic Brangwyn Hall on 21 August to close their 2026 tour. The choir, which is known for its awe-inspiring performances, will be led by Tim Rhys-Evans MBE, marking his eighth year as conductor of the choir, where he was once a member. Expect a vibrant mix of music, from brand-new pieces to choral favourites and plenty of surprises in between!

Tim and Shelah have been performing together for over 10 years. Expressive harmonies and solid musicianship are their forte. They have combined their musical experience and expertise by arranging classic rock tunes with a dash of country and swing classics for acoustic guitar, violin, and vocals. Tim O’Brien – Guitar & Vocals. Tim has navigated the Southern California music scene for over 30 years as a talented singer, guitar/dobro/pedal steel player. He has appeared with several bands performing classic rock, country and bluegrass. His warm singing voice holds audience’s attention throughout his performance. Shelah Spiegel – Fiddle & Vocals. Shelah, a southern California native, is 4-time Southern California fiddle champion. She has sung jingles for commercials, recorded studio tracks, worked as a park musician at Knott’s Berry Farm and Magic Mountain, and toured to Japan with Knott’s. Shelah has played in many local and out-of-state bluegrass and country bands and toured the US with several bluegrass bands.

Evan Extence is a saxophonist hailing from Swansea. Evan has been a familiar face on the Cardiff scene since beginning medical school in 2022, frequently playing with his own bands and others. The band plays an eclectic mix of Evan's most favourite tunes to play and listen to. From Jazz standards, which inspired his early playing, to music steeped in African and Brazilian heritage’. As a composer he could share some of his original pieces of music, All acompanied withj a great band of young musicians!

LAST FIRST KISS is an Americana, country, and bluegrass duo built on deep musical roots, lived experience, and a shared love for timeless songs. Blending tradition with raw, modern energy, the duo delivers heartfelt performances that honor the past while feeling fully alive in the present. Fronting the band is lead vocalist Sheryl Bard, daughter of legendary Ohio bluegrass musician Frank Bard, whose influence and legacy loom large in the Midwest roots music scene. Frank Bard was a respected figure in traditional bluegrass, known for preserving the genre’s storytelling spirit and passing its values down through generations. Music runs even deeper in Sheryl’s bloodline—her grandmother was an accordionist in the Ohio gospel group The Glory Land Travelers, bringing sacred harmonies and gospel tradition into the family’s musical foundation. Raised among bluegrass standards, gospel songs, and front-porch harmonies, Sheryl Bard carries forward a multigenerational American music legacy with a voice steeped in authenticity and soul. On guitar and backing vocals is Ed Solis, a versatile and seasoned musician known locally as the founder and bassist of The Rumrunners Southern Rock Experience. Formed at Bogart’s, The Rumrunners quickly rose through the Southern California music scene, performing at prominent venues including The Gaslamp and The Garden, earning a reputation for high-energy, roots-driven live shows. Solis brings a uniquely broad musical background to LAST FIRST KISS.
