An evening of networking, discussion, and the opportunity to meet like-minded creatives and the team here at Phoenix Dance Theatre. Following our successful event in November, we’re inviting freelancers working across all areas who are interested in working with dance artists to come together for our Freelance Networking Summer Social. Working as a freelancer can often be isolating and we want to provide opportunities for artists from all backgrounds to come together and make connections. Whether you’re a performer, musician, costume designer, lighting or sound technician interested in working with dance artists, you’re welcome to join us to meet each other and the team here at Phoenix. The event will include a short studio sharing from our Graduate Summer Intensive participants, followed by refreshments and music. The evening will provide the opportunity to meet like-minded creatives and industry professionals and help facilitate future collaboration and connections.

Date: 7pm-11pm, Thurs 30th July 2026 Venue: Sidney and Matilda , Sheffield S1 4RH Tickets: £5/10/15/20 (pay what you can afford) An extra special pattern club live, with algorave and other pattern-based electronic dance music performances from legends Tim Exile , Switch Angel + LO.FI.SCI.FI , and badcirculation in the sidney + matilda basement, joined by pattern club residents Damu , Epiploke and Eye Measure . Tim Exile has developed his approach to music-making through decades of producing across the idm, breakcore and drum+bass spectrum. He’s bringing his pattern-generating rig up from London, sharing how handmade software can bring us together. We’re super happy to be hosting this legend ! Then amazingly Switch Angel is coming to drop her legendary live coded bangers on us, animated with hot visuals from LO.FI.SCI.FI , both over from Boston Massachusetts. Switch Angel has been pushing algorithmic dance forward through her cross-genre, full power sound as well as pushing on what the tools can do as prolific strudel dev. Completing the triple threat badcirculation are over from Birmingham, launching a new album coming out on interworld media , and bringing algorithmic interpretations of live coded grime, footwork, house and uk garage to the mash up. Launch Night

We’ve teamed up with Sheffield’s legendary artist Bubba2000 to brew a very special beer as part of our Pride of Yorkshire celebrations. Earlier this year, we sponsored a lion for Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity’s Pride of Yorkshire campaign. Since then, we’ve got to know Bubba2000—the artist behind our lion—and he’s an absolute legend. It didn’t take long for us to decide we had to brew a beer together to celebrate the collaboration and help raise even more money for our lion sponsorship. If you haven’t seen it yet, The Catpack King has taken pride of place in our beer garden and will be here until 7th September 2026. The design brings together every Catpack Project piece created by Bubba2000 so far. SO, onto the fun stuff… to mark the occasion, we’ve brewed MEOW – featuring a brand-new Catpack character, this time clutching a beer! Better still, Bubba will be spray-painting the artwork onto our brewery wall! And that’s not all. Bubba was a DJ back in the ’90s, we’ve got the decks, so he’s jumping behind them for a special DJ set to launch the beer. Join us for an eve of new beer, great music, and in aid of a fantastic cause. MEOW will be pouring on tap, with **£1 from every pint and can sold ** going towards our Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity lion sponsorship. You’ll also be able to pick up limited-edition cans and prints, with Bubba2000 on hand to sign them. Friday 7th August 6pm–9pm It’s going to be a brilliant night! We can’t wait to see you there!
