Outdoor Theatre: Othello – Wed 1 & Thur 2 July

Join The Lord Chamberlain’s Men this summer for Othello, one of the most captivating and thrilling plays ever written. See it performed how William Shakespeare first saw it, as The Lord Chamberlain’s Men – with a history stretching back to Shakespeare’s original company – present this play in the open air, with an all male cast and Elizabethan costumes, music and dance. “I know my price, I am worth no worse a place.” Othello, the Moor of Venice, a respected General in the Venetian army, promotes the young Cassio to be his Lieutenant over Iago, a soldier in his service. In doing so he unwittingly sparks Iago’s deep-seated hatred into terrifying life and sets in motion a horrendous spiral of vengeance and destruction that sweeps away everyone before it. As Iago weaves his web and seeks his revenge he poisons Othello against Desdemona, who he has recently and secretly married, and turns the world upside down until Othello becomes unmoored from reality with devastating consequences. “Put out the light, and then put out the light.” A powerful story of deception, jealousy and a man that loved not wisely but too well – this stunning and heartbreakingly poignant play is one you won’t want to miss. Bring a chair and a picnic and prepare to be rapt and transported. Book early to avoid missing out! Wellness River Walks

To mark the 10th anniversary of the Annual Osun River Ritual, you are invited to join the Yeye Osun Wellness River Walks, a series of monthly guided walks open to all. Led by Dr Michelle Asantewa, each walk follows the Wandle River into Morden Hall Park and offers gentle mindful walking, sensory connection with nature and guided reflection on seasonal themes inspired by rivers, wellbeing and renewal. No prior knowledge or spiritual background is needed. Walks last around 90 minutes and end with the option to gather at the park’s main café for reflection. Part of the proceeds support the 10th Anniversary Osun River Ritual in August. Dates and themes Sunday 8 March – Returning to Source (International Women’s Day) Sunday 12 April – Clarity and Reflection Sunday 17 May – Fertility and Creativity Sunday 7 June – Cleansing and Renewal Sunday 12 July – Community and Connection Sunday 13 September – Gratitude and Celebration Walk leader bio Dr Michelle Asantewa is an award-winning author, independent educator and cultural consultant. She is co-founder of the Annual Osun River Ritual and has led multiple wellness walks and reflective activities at Morden Hall Park, welcoming participants from all backgrounds to explore wellbeing, culture and connection with nature.
