Following acclaimed performances at York Minster, The Greatest Shows comes to Selby Abbey for a spectacular evening celebrating the music of the world’s greatest musicals. Enjoy unforgettable songs from Les Misérables, Mamma Mia, The Lion King, Evita and selected favourites from The Greatest Showman, performed live in the stunning surroundings of Selby Abbey. The concert features powerful vocal performances from Maggie Wakeling and special guest singers, bringing these iconic musical theatre songs to life. Accompanied by a live string quartet and performed under the warm glow of candlelight, this promises to be an uplifting and memorable night of music. Doors open: 6:45pm The performance includes a short interval where bar refreshments will be available. Selby CC 103rd Anniversary Rides (1923-2026): Red, Amber, Green & White routes to follow

Using the official year of inauguration, 1923, this will be the club’s 103rd anniversary, and it’d be great to have lots of members out in club colours. Please download the routes and add them to your SatNav devices or print them out, so you know where you’re going. All ride groups will have a stop at Melbourne Village Hall, which we've hired for the morning. Food and hot drinks will be provided. If you do intend to ride please, please, please like the announcement post on the SCC Facebook page as soon as possible because we need to know numbers to arrange for supplies.

An afternoon with Bradford Concert Band

Selby Abbey is delighted to welcome the Bradford concert Band for a free afternoon event; Bradford Concert Band is a concert band based in Bradford, West Yorkshire that comprises players of woodwind (flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone), brass ( french horn, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, tuba) and percussion (drums, timpani, tuned percussion). We are an amateur community band comprising members from all walks of life and ages. We were formed in 1975 and have been making music in the Yorkshire area for over 50 years. A wide range of music is played including stage, musical, film and television music, arrangements of light popular music, marches, formal overtures, some of our own arrangements and novelty numbers. Rehearsals take place every week at Baildon Hall (Band Room) on Thursdays 7.30pm – 9.30pm and Sundays 10.00am – 12 noon. Concerts are held throughout the year in local parks and other venues mainly around West Yorkshire. We also play lots of festive carolling / busking sessions around Christmas. A selection of new pieces is always being worked on in order to build a programme for future concerts, music being selected to cater for all players.

Guided Tour of Selby Abbey

No booking required – just turn up! (Tours, which last about 75 minutes, are free but donations are invited) Meet your guide at 10.30am inside the West Door of Selby Abbey to explore the history of the first monastery to be established in the North of England after the arrival of William the Conqueror in 1066. Wonder at the amazing Romanesque and Gothic architecture and hear how, despite two great fires, the collapse of the central tower and the dissolution of the monasteries in the 16th Century, Selby Abbey has survived as a vibrant place of pilgrimage, events, prayer and worship. Tour dates for 2026: 5th January 17th January 2nd February 14th February 2nd March 21st March 13th April 18th April 11th May 23rd May 8th June 20th June 13th July 25th July 3rd August 15th August 7th September 19th September 5th October 17th October 2nd November 21st November 7th December 19th December Tours are available at other times for groups or individuals by prior arrangement. The Fairburn Singers w/Bavarian Male & Ladies choirs

Selby Abbey is delighted to welcome back The Fairburn Singers with their special guests all the way from Germany! 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm Doors open: 5.30 pm VOICES IN HARMONY This promises to be an outstanding concert in a very special venue. The Fairburn Singers are proud to present their guests: Die Rosen Kavaliere Male Voice Choir and Bell Cantánima Ladies Choir, both from Bavaria. All choirs will perform individually and then join together for the final piece in each half. This should be a joyful celebration of music from different countries, singing together to entertain. Tickets are now on sale from the Selby Abbey shop. Opening times for the shop are Mon to Saturday 10:30 am to 3:30 pm. Tickets will also be available on the door. There will be a licensed bar at this event. Payment can be made by cash or card.
