Railway Village Museum Tour

Join us at The Railway Village Museum to step back in time at the cottage to discover Victorian traditions. Witness the sights, sounds and smells of local community life, and learn how a Great Western Railway worker would have lived with their family living in Swindon c1901. What are the details? This approximately 30 minute tour will be hosted from 3pm by a knowledgeable volunteer who will guide you through each room of the Railway Cottage. Visiting the Railway Village Museum is free of charge. However, as we rely heavily on donations and the generous support of our volunteers to remain open, any contribution is greatly appreciated. We are running a series of Tours throughout the year so if you can’t make this one, view our other events here. Important Information Booking is essential, the Museum tour will only go ahead if there are bookings. No food or drink is allowed inside the Museum. There are no toilet facilities at the Museum, but there are toilets available at the nearby supporting site: The Bakers’. Accessibility Wheelchair ramps are available for the Museum, with the ground floor accessible for wheelchairs. However due to tight corridors and narrow doorways some wheelchairs may not be able to enter the corridor. This is also why we ask that pushchairs are not brought inside. The stairs are steep so please take extra care when going upstairs.

The Community Gardener supports various community gardens within South Swindon parish, either through maintenance or by providing guidance and support. What is a Community Garden? Community gardens are shared outdoor spaces that belong to the community. They can vary from raised beds and landscaped areas, to communal allotment sites and designated gardening areas. What about Badbury Park? The Badbury Park Community Garden consists of raised beds located outside the community hub and library on Homington Avenue. The raised beds here we planted by local volunteers in 2025, with a planting scheme focused on sustainable low maintenance designed by our Community Garden.

Comedy Club 4 Kids

Since 2005, the Comedy Club 4 Kids has been getting the best stand-ups, sketch acts and cabaret stars from the international circuit to do their thing for an audience of children (aged 6+) and their families… but without the rude bits! Over twenty years later, the company has expanded from one London residency to being countrywide, running shows and workshops all over the UK from Peebles to Portsmouth, popping up at festivals like Glastonbury, End Of The Road and Camp Bestival. They have also published a book on how to write and perform stand-up, and host their own Radio Nonsense podcast to bring the sillies to families all over the world. In August 2025, they won The Victoria Wood Award, the Edinburgh Comedy Awards’ panel prize, in recognition of our two decades in this glorious endeavour.
