Parish/Benefice Cell of Our Lady of Walsingham Occurring for 45 mins Venue St Helen's Church Athersley Address St Helen's Church Athersley, 27 Laithes Lane Athersley Barnsley, S71 3AF, United Kingdom Meeting of the Cell of Our Lady of Walsingham for the United Benefice of St Helen, Athersley and St John the Evangelist, Carlton. The Cell will aim to meet every six weeks, normally on a Thursday starting at 6.00pm. (Where possible please bring a Walsingham Manual). From session to session, The Cell will hold a variety of different devotions and activities, including, eg, Mass, the Rosary, Bible Study, intercessions, meditation by a speaker, Benediction, etc, and so on. Each Cell meeting would normally last around 30-45mins. The 2026 dates of the Cell of Our Lady of Walsingham for St Helen, Athersley & St John Carlton include: Thursday 5th February 2026, Thursday 19th March 2026, Thursday 21st May 2026, Thursday 2nd July 2026, Thursday 13th August 2026, Thursday 24th September 2026, Thursday 29th October 2026, 10th December 2026. Saturday 12th September 2026, 11:00am to 2:00pm Upton Village Hall, Harewood Lane The Parish Council is excited to be hosting its first Upton Village Show on Saturday 12th September at Upton Village Hall. As this is the first year, we would love as many residents as possible to get involved and help make it a lovely community event. There will be a range of categories, including garden harvest, baking, jams, chutneys and preserves, photography, crafts, children’s entries, stalls and raffles. A weekly service on Wednesday’s (10am-2pm) to support individuals who feel lonely, isolated and or who are living with a mental health condition or learning difficulty. Activities often include bingo, chatting, gardening and crafts. The club meets at Carers Garden at the back of Barnsley Metrodome (Next to Carpark 4). Small charge ranging from 50p-£2.50 to cover costs of activity and optional lunch and refreshments.
