Have a go at making your own piece of jewellery with the help of our friendly learning team in this special children’s jewellery workshop activity.Design and create either a bracelet or pendant, learn and use real jewellers’ techniques like texturing metal, hammering, stamping and enamelling to make something unique and personal to take home with you.Pre-booking is essential as places are limited.Recommended for ages 8 and up. For safety reasons we cannot accommodate under-5s.Children must be accompanied by one adult. Due to limitations on space, strictly only one adult per booking.Workshop lasts 2 hours.Please be advised the workshop can be noisy. Shirley And Wythall Chess Club

Shirley & Wythall Chess Club is a friendly group of keen chess players. The club has more than 40 members, and competes in more than 20 leagues and cups every season. We field 5 teams in the Birmingham & District Chess League (BDCL), 4 teams in the Leamington & District Chess League (LDCL), hold club tournaments and host events throughout the year. Home matches take place on Thursdays and Mondays. Newcomers of any ability, age and gender are welcome to come and have a friendly game, discuss their needs and chess aspirations. We meet every Thursday from 7.30pm at Wythall House, 52 Silver Street, Wythall, B47 6LZ Should you decide to become a member, the annual subscription fee is as follows: £30 for adults £10 for under 18s This does not include Bronze ECF membership (required in order to play league games).

Tudor Day at Blakesley Hall

Ever wondered what life was like for the Tudors? Well come and find out at this family friendly event suitable for all ages at Blakesley Hall!Meet our Tudor reenactors from the Up and At 'Em team in the Hall and learn what life was like in Tudor Birmingham. Meet a cook demonstrating how Tudor food was made and have a go at making some gingerbread and even butter! Meet the Steward to find out how the table was set for feasting and how the household was run.Have a go at archery in the garden with the team from Events From History or you can sit back and watch as their experts show their skills and regale you with tales of battles past!There will also be some fun activities in the Barn including quill writing, object handling and Tudor inspired craft.
