Spanish Galicia SO – Spotlight on Spain

The Spanish Galicia Symphony Orchestra, the first Spanish orchestra to grace the series for decades, brings with them a Mediterranean-inspired programme. Rapidly making a mark on the international scene, their Music Director, Roberto González-Monjas, will be joined by “the new face of classical guitar”, Thibaut Garcia, who will take the spotlight for Rodrigo’s exquisite Concierto de Aranjuez. The concert opens with the fiery elegance of Falla’s Three Dances from his ballet The Three-Cornered Hat. After the interval, journey through the enchanting world of Ravel’s whimsical Mother Goose Suite and soak up the lush, evocative portrait of Seville’s soul in Turina’s Sinfonia sevillana. The concert culminates in a mesmerizing crescendo with Ravel’s hypnotic Boléro. SYO Disney Classics – Community Day April 2026

Shortlisted for ‘Best New Project’ by Making Music 2024. A huge thank you to The Sarah Nulty Power of Music Foundation and Tramlines Trust for providing financial support in running this community day. Calling all Sheffield (and surrounding area) musicians both young and old! SYO provide their 12th installment of their popular community day series. We also welcome beginners (Grade 1-4) to join us for a part-day version of the day – so all abilities are welcomed under the baton of our conductor – River Edis-Smith. Aladdin Medley – Metkin/Rice – Full Day The Jungle Book Medley – Sherman – Full Day Night on Bald Mountain (Music from Disney’s Fantasia) – Mussorgsky – (Full Day Abridged Version/Part Day Simplified Parts) All ages and backgrounds are welcome, but we strongly recommend ABRSM Grade 5 and above, (or with similiar experience without the equivalent grading) for full-day participants. NEW: Beginners instrumentalists are invited to participate in community day for a mini rehearsal from 2:45pm, culminating in a concert with everyone from 4:15pm. For the part-day experience, we will be rehearsing and performing from an abridged version of Night on Bald Mountain (From Disney’s Fantasia) and is suited for ABRSM Grade 1-4 players.
