Therapeutic Art (Wellness Wednesdays)

Therapeutic Art Workshops – Creative Wellbeing Sessions Join us for our Wednesday Therapeutic Art Workshops, a welcoming series of creative wellbeing sessions designed to support relaxation, mindfulness, confidence, and connection through art. Starting at 10 am, these gentle and accessible workshops provide a calm, friendly space where adults can slow down, get creative, and enjoy mindful artmaking alongside others in the community. Each session includes a variety of therapeutic creative activities such as art journaling, painting, colouring, mixed media, embroidery, mindfulness, and sensory art. The workshops are designed to help reduce stress, improve well-being, encourage self-expression, and build social connections in a supportive environment. No previous art experience is needed and everyone is encouraged to work at their own pace. All materials are provided, and participants receive their own art journal and folder to safely store artwork, unfinished projects, and creative ideas to bring along each week. If the planned activity for the day is not something you wish to take part in, there is always the opportunity to continue previous projects, colour, or bring along your own creative craft work to enjoy during the session. These workshops are about much more than making art — they are about taking time for yourself, nurturing creativity, building confidence, and being part of a welcoming and supportive community. A weekly service on Wednesday’s (10am-2pm) to support individuals who feel lonely, isolated and or who are living with a mental health condition or learning difficulty. Activities often include bingo, chatting, gardening and crafts. The club meets at Carers Garden at the back of Barnsley Metrodome (Next to Carpark 4). Small charge ranging from 50p-£2.50 to cover costs of activity and optional lunch and refreshments.
