Croquet on the lawn

The beautiful Cedar Lawn is an ideal spot for a game of croquet. If you fancy giving it a go then head to Visitor Reception to borrow a set. There are smaller mallets available for children. The croquet sets are loaned on a first come first served basis and must be returned when you have finished using them. They are available for loan daily, except on Wednesdays when the local croquet club use the lawn.

Challenge each other to a game of croquet on our historic cedar lawn, find the secret spot behind the Stables and try your hand at giant chess, or head down to the Stables Courtyard to find traditional toys and modern favourites. Whilst you’re here, pick up a pre-loved book from our second-hand bookshop, or treat yourself to a coffee or refreshing ice cream from our new coffee pod. *Please note: on Wednesdays between 2:00pm - 4:00pm the croquet set is reserved for the Croquet Club.
